Match Reports 4th October

Slamtown - Mayor
The Flatballers only had 8 on the night and they came out swingin to a 6-1 lead, the game slowed down significantly, and there were 3 timeouts used in the next 5 points.
SFC took half, but then the buggs scored 4 in a row to tie it up at 8-8..... and then again, the buggs scored and took the one point lead.
Slamtown was able to put together a final surge together and ran three in a row to be up 11-9.... we traded, things got uglyish... but hard fought contests all over the place.
They brought it to 14-13 within one, with SFC receiving pull for match point..... that's when birthday boy Boo Lawson let out a bit of his wily zest getting touches the whole way down the field, and throwing the relief inducing final goal to Jordan Stone.  A game of epic proportion.
Same story for the second half, with all of Ryan's pulls landing inside the field for the first time in his career!

UQ Lovers - BW

Second week in a row that AUGs has cut in to our roster. Last week we had 2 out due to niggles leading in to it and this week we had 5 out plus a couple more who were using their 1 week break from Uni. Unfortunately due to the way the draw worked we were still meant to play this week and managed to get a few ring ins from UQ league to play some BPL. Missing a large core of our team, the game went as expected and the short Dojo roster just outclassed the UQ in every way even going up 3-0 before getting a 7th player. Hopefully next time we get to verse them we will have a few more of the missing 7.

Cobras - Troy
After a few days of pondering the curse the Cobras decided they would look into having it removed from Finn as it seems he is going to keep showing up. The early works, which consisted of ringing up an up late TV fortune teller lady, led us to the knowledge that we needed to travel to the far east. Given our starting point was Qld this isn't as bad as we first thought. So the Cobras set off on this adventure to rid Finn of the curse, well except for Wetnose who simply said "I'm a co-founder I don't have to go!". We wanted to argue but he killed a man once you know so what are you going to do? On our travels the rest of the Cobras encountered three other travelers on a quest: Monkey, Sandy and Pigsy. These travelers were good companions for the Cobras and enjoyed tales that the Cobras could share. To be honest the tales told by the trio were best told while walking as then it was less obvious that they moved their mouths independently of speech. This could only be tolerated for a short time and especially as many members of the Cobras didn't appreciate who they were, the two Dans were heard to say "Not from America, didn't happen on TV". Once we finally parted way due to constant whining from these two we eventually back tracked some way when we realised that we walked well past our destination while attempting not to see how out of sync the voice and mouths were. Upon reaching our final destination we were confronted with news of when the curse could be lifted. The news however made the hearts of all Cobras sink even Wetnose who wasn't there. The (As best I could tell) stay at home dad claiming to be a guru told us "The curse will only be lifted when another teams surpasses you in a ranking of power." Knowing we were firmly placed in position one with no logical reason to be removed after losing one game by one point to a team that had won including that game half as many games as the Cobras we would never lose this top ranking. We came hope knowing this news only to find that for no reason we could see we had been removed from the top position in a ranking of power. Who knows why this occurred? Some say it was divine intervention brought about by the prayers of the one they call Griff, some say it was a massive oversight by a corrupt city government and some say it was the Babylonian Brotherhood (The lizard people who David Icke says control the world, for those of you playing along at home.). All I know is that this mistaken outcome has resulted in the curse being lifted from Finn so we can allow him to seem like a full member of the team again. Cobras win real powerful like 15-9.

Dojo - Cola
Last week game between Dojo and UQ saw the shortest sides of the season with typical uni students issues for UQ, typical old people issues for Dojo (congrats Andy!). We played a very tall zone with Pete, Sean and Joel covering the air so going over the top wasn't an option for UQ. BW tried to use his speedy give-and-go signature move but some of his teammates were too inexperienced to follow, so Dojo took the half 8-2. Same story for the second half, with all of Ryan's pulls landing inside the field for the first time in his career. Finished 15 Samurais over 4 Lovers.

Buggers - Mat
Pretty much what Stef said above.  The usual slow start from the Buggers to let SFC get out to a huge, gigantic and almost certainly insurmountable lead ... but then we took some strategic timeouts and scored 8 of the next 10 points to surmout the insurmountable and lead 9-8.  It's a crazy mixed up world, just like Sydney winning the AFL and Melbourne winning the NRL.  We missed two of our 3 Tims and this showed in the back half of the game.   Couldn't hold onto the lead and let them get away for a tight win.
