The Slamtown Flatball Club has bolstered their roster going into the tournament season. And in doing so, the captains of the two clubs agreed (when news of Slamtown's rising prominence was learned) that the two teams would have regular battles. This in order to harden up both teams, and have them battle tested going into Nationals.
It was also agreed upon when the two captains met that this type of rivalry is precisely what Firestorm needed after years of cruising through qualifying, only to loose to the top seeds, often losing tough games. More competitive lead-in games would surely help them to develop mental toughness. I believe it was clearly identified that Firestorm had hired professional assistance in the past seeking angles towards mental toughness... a trait that can be earned when camaraderie overcomes adversity with frequency.
And so it was decided, we would set up dates to play one another. The Firestorm captain chose the dates, and joked wondering weather or not we even worked off a calendar.... (we don't yet... but soon) I accepted the dates (the first date set for Thurs night, 24 Jan). I also agreed to personally source the field for the first match.... and to cater to our opponents, and the growing number of Brisbanites that have chosen to play on a team that does their work on the field, the field was booked in Brisbane, at Oakman Park.
It was all set... Firestorm vs. Slamtown , Thurs Night, Jan 24, 7:30pm, Oakman Park BRISBANE.
Captains had agreed, we even allocated time for FS to get to the end of their selection, a process that is allegedly complete. There is talk of 'change' over in Firestorm Camp... it's good that all of this 'change' is in the plans........ but it counts for nothing. Plans aren't much when they're not adhered to.
Why does it count for nothing you might ask?? Because on the very day that Firestorm decided on the men that would go to war together for the season... they also put up the white flag.... and bailed out of the game that was organised. A very telling tale for their club.
The 'best team' in brisbane, can't field a team in their home city, 4 days after they selected a team!!!
Firestorm can't put 7 on the line at Oakman park on Thurs night??
We'll ... I must say..... I'm not too surprised.
I'll start my Calendar this week... and my first entry will be for Thurs ... I will note it as: 'Firestorm canceled game in their home city, as they couldn't field a team to a game they agreed to - training in place of game' ..
Someone is bitter. there is a spot on my indoor team. Since you were coming to brisbane anyway.
ReplyDeleteBitter doesn't quite encompass what it is I feel...... I feel as though Firestorm would get 7 on the line if they thought they could get a win... but since they can't... they'd rather pull the pin, than play a game there are likely to lose.
ReplyDeleteHave fun at indoor... that should get FS over the line at Nats.
ha..... soft.
Why is this post on the BPL blog?
ReplyDeleteHi Mansauce,
ReplyDeleteThis is posted on the BPL blog because a large number of players that are on QLD's top team reference this site for their 'ultimate info' .... , as do some Firestorm players.
And because I felt like it...... and because the public should know what their rep's are up to.
Have a great day everybody.... good luck at indoor.
pfft.... soft.
In other news, Roger Federer backed out of a game of tennis I had scheduled with him for tonight. I even had it penciled in on my diary.
ReplyDeleteBW 1 - RF 0
He has probably read the off season reports as a form of research and just knew that he didn't have MVP quality about him.
DeleteAnyone else find that the Gold Coast blog isn't accessible and blogspot says it's been deleted?
ReplyDeletepfft.... soft blogging ;-)
