Same Same .... but different

What a night down at Pizzey Park!!

The BPL moved down to the Gold Coast for it's inaugural visit, and it was a screaming success by my count.  The Cobras were routinely short numbered, but duked it out with 6, while the other 5 teams came in droves and had ample numbers on their rosters.  SFC, Dojo, and Blitz walked away with wins, and everyone walked away with smiles.  The bbq was an added bonus for most, and Jimmy Bua is to thank for the cake and turning the tube stakes all night.

But what was best for me was the social aspect that was brought to both the pre game and post game.  It was all familiar company, but a hint of change had the ultimate crew banding together upon arrival.  There were a good 20 odd spectators from the ranks of GCUltimate, and the post game was a whole lot of chewin the fat, with the faces of the league.  Heck, Mike Nield even called in to see how things worked out... it was most certainly a BPL feel... just a bit different.

Of my own personal fat chewin' I was privy to a conversation with the Left Honorable Tony Ross, who brought up the topic of Story Lines.... which has clearly intrigued me.

So what are our BPL Story Lines with one fixture remaining until semi's??  Well by Big Tone's estimation, they look a lil' something like this:

4) Who the hell is going to take the 4 spot??  1,2&3 are all set, and in order... but who wants the 4?  We haven't seen a table in a few weeks, and next week, the lower tier, are all playing higher tier teams, so it will take an unlikely victory to gets the points necessary...  will it come down to point differential? play versus common opponent?  The last round could be very telling even to just stay close in a loss.  The Cobras forfeit can't bode well at this stage.

3) Are the Bugs able to pull off the upset, or are they simply the number 3... they're playing SFC, and will be underdogs, but are capable.

2) Can the 4 seed pull off the miracle versus the Dojo?

1) Will the Dojo take their dominance of the BPL back (winning 3 of the last 4) or will Slamtown start their own dynasty (appearing in the last 3 finals, winning the last 2)

Well... it won't take you much guessing as to the storyline I'm fangin' for, but regardless, it's been an excellent season, and it will once again be an excellent finish.

The only snag of the night was a Cunliffe flat tire in the car park... but all was remedied in good time, and we merely had more time to talk sh*t.

There were also some sideline rumblings about doing another GC round next season, and potentially making it on a fri, for obvious post game reasons... and without Stephen Cameron's attendance, there were no immediate objections to a league proposal... we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Cheers all
